Our Roots

Gerd Schneider Nursery was founded by Gerd K. Schneider.

Mr Schneider was born in Germany. He studied and worked in Germany, Denmark and Switzerland, and then came to the United States to work for the Saratoga Horticultural Research Foundation in the early 1950’s. 

Soon there after he founded Gerd Schneider Nursery. Initially specializing in grafting and propagating shrubs and trees. Gerd loved his job and worked until the very day of his passing in late 2015.

Today the GSN team continues to carry on with Gerd's legacy. The team has grown to over 15 employees and they are a small but mighty operation, just like the young vigorous plants they produce.
